Our mission at Grace Lutheran Church and School is to bring in, build up, and send out disciples for Jesus Christ.

Our school prepares children for a life of discipleship by helping them to grow in faith, knowledge, and character.

Morning Drop Off - We have received complaints about the morning traffic on Bonnie Brae and the River Forest police have asked me to remind parents of the parking regulations for drop off. Between Division and the entrance to Concordia's lot, Bonnie Brae is designated as a loading zone. Drivers may not leave their cars unattended in a loading zone, and unattended vehicles are subject to citations. If you need to enter the building you should park on Division or on Bonnie Brae south of Concordia's driveway. That means a bit of a longer walk, but at least the weather's been cooperating. Starting next week we will also engage the handicapped pad on the left side doors for younger students who can't open the doors by themselves.

Tickets for A Graceful Evening, the March 31 benefit for Grace School, go on sale this Sunday in the atrium between services. Tickets will also be available weekdays at the Grace reception desk and online. Individual tickets are $40; a table of ten is $400. The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., includes a buffet dinner, a cash bar and the excitement of live and silent auctions. Last year's benefit, the first of its kind, was great fun. It's a wonderful opportunity for the school and church communities to get together and support the mission we share: bringing in, building up and sending out disciples for Jesus Christ.

We need your help in securing donations for the Silent and Live Auctions.

Here are some categories to consider:

 - Tickets to Chicago sporting events, museums, theatre, and cultural events

- Gift certificates to local and downtown restaurants; spa and hotel packages

- Sports memorabilia such as autographed photographs and jerseys; trading cards

-  Airline tickets or Frequent flyer miles

- Vacation homes and time shares

Deadline for receipt of donations is March 16th. For questions or to donate an item please call:

Candice Buchbinder at 708-445-3764 or Mary Jane Keitel at 708-763-0242.

Thank you for your continued support of Grace School!

Re-enrollment forms for the 2012-13 school year have been mailed.  If you did not receive your form, please contact the school office.

Grace Lutheran School will once again have our SCAMP (Summer Cultural Arts and Music Program) this year for students entering grades 1-4.  We will also have our Mini-SCAMP recreational day camp for children age 3-5, with both a morning only or full day option.  Scamp will run for 3 two week sessions starting Monday, June 4 and ending Thursday, July 12.  Classes will run Monday through Thursday with the exception of Wednesday, July 4.  The schedule of classes will be sent out within the next two weeks.

The Mentor Program is looking for current school families to welcome new school families.  All that is involved is making a phone call to new parents and offering friendship and help in learning the ropes here at Grace.  Please consider becoming a mentor.  It is an easy way to make a big impact on the Grace School community!  Contact Emily Southfield emilysouthfield@sbcglobal.net

Using Scrip gift cards to shop for routine purchases can help raise significant amounts of money for Grace School. Click here to learn more about participating in Scrip and other fundraising programs that benefit the school. The more people who get involved with these programs from the school and church communities, the more the school benefits. Currently school families are working towards the goal of putting an iPad in every classroom, funded by donations from the Scrip program.  If 175 School supporters purchased a $100 Dominick's or Jewel card, or a $25 Gap or Old Navy Card, the school would receive enough money to buy one iPad. Take a look at the list of more than 600 participating retailers and print out the order form to place an order.  Bring completed order forms to Mrs. Maggio in the school office, with your check.  The next scrip order will be placed on Tuesday, February 21.

Grace School is still collecting Box Tops; each box top is worth $.10.  See the list of participating products here

LENTEN MIDWEEK SERVICES-Lenten midweek services begin with Holy Communion on Ash Wednesday, February 22.  Please note that the service time has been changed to 7 p.m., with supper at 6.  The earlier time will allow parents to get children home earlier, and choir rehearsal and other committee meetings to end at a more convenient hour.
