Sunday School
Grace’s Sunday School welcomes all children from three-year-old preschoolers through fifth grade, including those with special needs. Children in grades 6-8 attend Confirmation classes.
Sunday School and Confirmation classes meet from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Sundays from September through May. Check the church calendar for information on specific dates.
Sunday School begins with worship time for parents and children in the third-floor school Commons. Children then go to individual grade-level classrooms. Children should be picked up at their classrooms at 10:45.

How Sunday School Works
Sunday School children in grades 1-5 are taught using a rotation model. There are five rotations throughout the year. Each Bible story in the rotation is introduced at "Story Sunday" when the children together hear the story told by an adult. On the next four or five Sundays, classes rotate to different "workshops," where they participate in a variety of activities that focus on the Bible story. On Family Sundays, parents and children gather together to work on special projects or celebrate the beginning and end of the Sunday School year.
Curriculum
Children learn about and experience faith in different ways. Some learn best through hands-on activities, others through writing and reading. Others learn best through a combination of activities. Grace Sunday School uses a curriculum called "Spark: Activate Faith" which is designed to accommodate these different learning styles.
Each week of the rotation the lesson is taught in a different way. Children come to know God and the stories of the Bible through creative and experiential workshops such as art, cooking, Bible skills and games, music, science, and creative drama. The rotation teachers choose a particular "workshop" and teach the lesson to a different grade each week. Each grade has a "shepherd," an adult who moves through the rotations with the class, providing consistency and discipline.
Preschoolers and kindergartners follow the Spark classroom model where classic Bible stories come to life with interactive Bible readings and engaging activities that get kids excited as they grow in God's Word. This curriculum walks through key Old Testament and New Testament stories using the Spark Story Bible, take-home leaflets, and a variety of multi-sensory activities designed to engage and entertain little ones as they get to know Jesus.
Volunteer as a Teacher
Do you enjoy crafts or puppets, playing dress-up, playing games, or cooking? Can you take pictures or videos? Grace Sunday School depends on adult volunteers who share their special skills and interests with children as they explore the bible story. Volunteers teach the same lesson to a different group of children for four or five Sundays. You can choose a workshop or activity that interests you and co-teach with your spouse or a friend. To volunteer, contact Grace.
